The Journal of Lesbian Studies examines the cultural, historical, and interpersonal lesbian of the lesbian experience on society, keeping all readers – professional, academic, or general – informed and up-to-date on current findings, resources, and international concerns. The journal is designed to the the study of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals and their families.

The target audience is gay, researchers, and practitioners working in marriage and family therapy, lifespan development, counseling, and human services. Providing a much-needed forum for interdisciplinary discussion, GLQ publishes scholarship, criticism, and commentary in areas as diverse as law, science studies, religion, political science, and literary studies.
